| Meditation & Prostrations Schedule
Meditation Schedule
Students must arrive at 5:45am. This class is an opportunity
for students to meditate in a group setting. Tantric
meditation techniques will be explained for new practitioners
before the class begins at 6. Download a .pdf with instructions
and techniques used during the class.
Prostrations Schedule
The practice of prostrations and surya namaskar (sun
salute) are the oldest form of yoga; these are the original
“vinyasas”. The continuous flow of 12 postures
in surya namaskar activates the entire body and its
energies as we synchronize ourselves with the creative
power of the sun.
Prostrations are the physical component of the yogins
compassion and surrender practice. This practice, though
rare in America can still be seen in India, Tibet, China
and Japan. The breath, physical movement, visual mandala
and mantra recitation combine to produce a profound
state of unity in body, speech and mind opening our
heart of compassion and our ability to be in Grace.
In this new class we take a page from the Himalayan
yoga tradition and make surya namaskar or prostrations
the entire focus of class to kick-start our day. It
is a self-guided (after initial instructions), meditative
class with each student practicing their choice of either
Surya Namaskar or Prostrations at their own pace.
If this is your first time, please arrive at 6:30
to receive instruction. Bring an extra pair of socks
and kneepads if you have any.
